Coaching
The coaching I and selected associates provide is a working partnership customized to your particular situation. Clients most often come to me to further their professional development – career transition, leadership development, professional strategy, situational objectives, in-depth topical conversation. Career and life are closely intertwined, so I work with you as a whole person within the context of your full and busy life. You decide where the boundaries are. Together we define the scope of our work – your focus, the desired results, the process, and my role. I contribute my experience and training in a conversational format. I have many tools and models to draw on which I will bring to our work selectively as it makes sense for the work you’re doing. I’ll listen to you, sometimes laugh with you, and ask you questions which encourage you to explore your perspectives more fully and thoughtfully. You’ll begin to see your situations in new ways that also allow you to see possibilities you hadn’t noticed before. During and between our meetings, you’ll have follow-up actions that forward your momentum, free up your energy, and accelerate your better future.
I currently offer coaching in formats for individuals, organizations, and small groups. I’m happy to offer a complimentary consultation which will allow you to determine the value of coaching to your particular situation.
For individual private clients
Coaching is provided by phone which facilitates more flexible scheduling from a private location of your choice.
I work with you on a short and longer term packages of coaching meetings that give you the right amount of structure and flexibility. Clients typically meet twice a month in time frames of 3 months to 2 years depending on individual goals.
You’re welcome to e-mail or call between meetings for brief coaching around specific situations. Whenever possible, I’ll respond in the same day.
You will follow-up each meeting with activities which we determine and track together to challenge you, foster insights, forward momentum, and reveal limiting behaviors and beliefs.
For organizational clients
I will meet with you at your location to design a program that best meets business and individual objectives. Coaching programs can stand alone or supplement existing company organizational development programs.
For small groups of 4 to 8 individuals with similar objectives
Group coaching, either in-person or by conference call, can be an effective and affordable alternative to individual coaching which allows a small group of individuals to be coached and learning from each other on objectives such as career strategy, leadership style, balance and priorities, life transitions, etc. Certain ground rules around respect and confidentiality must first be clearly established in order for this format to meet the needs of all participants. Occasionally, I may initiate group coaching for open registration around a particular topic, but I also welcome proposed ideas from anyone who would be interested in forming or being part of a group.
Instruments and Assessments
I am qualified to administer a number of instruments and assessments, including the Myers Briggs Type Indicator, the Pearson Marr Archetype Indicator, and the SEI and SEI360 (6 Seconds Emotional Intelligence instruments). I also maintain a list of respected colleagues to whom I might refer a client for a particular instrument which I may not be qualified to administer.
I use instruments selectively and judiciously as it makes sense for the particular client. I prefer that we first develop a rapport and that you more fully develop your own self-knowledge before introducing an external indicator. Instruments can be extremely useful in validating your experiences as well as in shedding light on potential blind spots. My philosophy is that they should be used to augment the coaching process rather than define it.
